Make Amazing Hot Sandwiches With S*** in Your Backpack

Backcountry eats are limited by what you can keep fresh. That’s why summer sausage is so amazing. It keeps forever, is delicious, and is delicious. Here’s a super simple italian sandwich recipe you can make with fairly common backcountry food.

 

Onions

Pepper jack cheese

Bagels, hamburger buns, any bread really

Pepper

Cooking oil

Summer sausage

Tabasco sauce (optional)

Stove

 

Prep: Slice the onion into thin cuts. Peel the summer sausage and chop it into ¼ in slices. Slice the pepper jack into thin slices. Slice the bread

 

Step One: Heat oil in a pan and put the onion in Season with pepper to taste.

 

Step Two: Once the onion is almost ready, put the pepper jack cheese in the pan and stir until the cheese is melted.

 

Step Three: Put the summer sausage into the pan and stir until everything is evenly distributed.


Step four: Place everything on the bread. Season with tabasco to taste. Enjoy.
